I Shouldn't Be Here is my first Photobook that I have published. 

The book itself consists of photographs of abandoned locations in the north island. All photographs were shot on expired film, relating to the idea of "expired" buildings and locations. The book contains pull outs and a strip of negatives that I used during this project.

I had seen people running from The Police before in movies and on the news. But I never once thought that maybe one day it would be my feet hitting the pavement as I ran as fast as I could. Nobody tells you how hard your heart races, as if it were about to explode out of your chest, how you suddenly feel like a track champion, how hard the wind hits your face. Nobody tells you how scary it is, thoughts racing asyou try and jump over fences. It wasn’t until the day I was exploring Waiwera hot pools that I found out.It wasn’t until that day that I learnt how heavy camera gear is to carry when you’re running from the police, how the adrenaline pumps so hard in your veins that you don’t have time to scream. It was thatday that I learnt that my passion can get me into trouble. That particular day I wasn’t sure what scaredme the most; the empty, desolated building that was once the centre of so many childhoods or the fact that from now on, for the rest of my life there will be a note on my police file stating my crimes. Theonly thing I know for sure from that day was that I definitely, shouldn’t have been there.
